STRESS CAN FEEL OVERWHELMING WHEN DEALING WITH IT ALONE…

Stress can certainly feel overwhelming at times. No matter how you try to stay on top of things and in control of your life. But this is not always easy and there is a huge variety of stress management and stress relief solutions that can really help you. One of the most debilitating things is when you try and deal with your stress, anxiety and worries all on your own.

TALK, TALK AND MAKE SURE TO TALK SOME MORE

But you really do not need to deal with stress on your own. You do not have to carry the entire weight of the world on your shoulders. There is an old saying that “a problem shared is a problem halved”. Start by talking to a friend or talking to a loved one. But start by talking to someone and not keeping it all inside. You will often find that you are not alone and many others are experiencing similar stress issues and problems just like you.

PROFESSIONAL STRESS MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE FOR YOU

Although friends, family and other loved ones can often be very helpful to talk to, it is not their role to give you professional advice. They are not trained to deal with the emotional and psychological issues that you may be experiencing at the moment. So do not be reluctant to consider seeking the assistance of an experienced and qualified professional.

CONTACT US FOR REFERRAL TO ACCREDITED PROFESSIONALS

You can contact us at the Global Organization for Stress and we will be happy to assist you. We can provide you with a range of suggested qualified and accredited professionals working in the areas of stress relief and stress reduction.

STRESS CAN WEAR YOU DOWN. BUT HERE’S A QUICK STRESS MANAGEMENT STRATEGY…

When you are feeling a great deal of stress and tension, your energy is quickly depleted. But here’s a great stress management and stress relief idea so you can feel quickly rested without having to take a nap.

REDUCING STRESS ALL OVER YOUR BODY

Find a quiet place and lie on your back. Start by slowing your breathing and concentrating on feeling your body slowly sinking into the ground. Work on each part of your body, aiming to relax each muscle group until it feels loose.

Start with each foot, then move to the lower part of your legs, then the upper part of your legs. As you relax, let go of the stress in each part of your body by quietly repeating to yourself “my right foot is relaxed”, “my left foot is relaxed”. Work your way up your body until you reach the top of your head.

LESS STRESSED AND REFRESHED

When you have finished, arise and notice how refreshed you feel without having to take a nap. You’ll feel rested and your stress levels will have been significantly reduced. So whenever you are feeling really stressed, try this quick stress management and stress relief technique to rejuvenate you and lower your stress.

STRESS RESEARCH CONSIDERING PATIENT ANXIETY AND UNCERTAINTY IS INTERESTING READING…

Stress research has recently shown that for anxious patients not knowing a possible diagnosis can cause more stress than actually knowing that you have a serious illness. Stress and anxiety levels are higher with diagnosis uncertainty. At the recent annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, Associate Professor of Radiology, Dr Elvira Lang, reported on the study undertaken by herself and a colleague at the Harvard Medical School in Boston.

STRESS AND ANXIETY LEVELS OF PATIENTS

Dr Lang reported that the study looked at 214 women of which a group who were waiting to undertake uterine fibroid tumor treatment or cancer treatment and a group who were undertaking a breast biopsy. Prior to undergoing these medical procedures these women all completed tests that would measure their levels of anxiety and stress.

This stress related research found women coming in for a breast biopsy and therefore uncertain of what the diagnosis would be, had significantly higher levels on tests for anxiety and slightly higher on other tests, than those women already diagnosed and having treatment for fibroids and malignant cancer.

HAVING A DIAGNOSIS HELPS IN STRESS MANAGEMENT

Dr Lang found that when people receive a diagnosis, even though it is negative and confirms a serious illness they did gain some control and understanding of their situation and also treatment options. For those without a diagnosis, they did not have this understanding or control and therefore, did not know how to handle the situation and were more anxious and stressed.

STRESS MANAGEMENT LANGUAGE

Further, Dr Lang suggested that it would be beneficial for health care institutions to deal with this patient anxiety. This is assisted by using different language rather than ‘it will only hurt a little bit’ and removing words like ‘hurt’ in explanations and using more clear comfort-based language that did focus on reinforcing the personal strengths of patients in dealing with the situation.

STRESS MANAGEMENT AND STRESS RELIEF IMPLICATIONS

This study has implications for our further understanding of stress relief and stress management. When you remove uncertainty and you know what you are dealing with then your stress, anxiety and worry levels can be significantly reduced, even though such knowledge can have negative consequences.

At the Global Organization for Stress, you can also read further summaries of stress research and studies relating to issues of stress relief and stress management.

STRESS CAN BE RELEASED WITH A SPECIAL STRESS RELIEF EXPRESSION SESSION…

Stress and tension and strain can be reduced when you express yourself and communicate your feelings. Stress management and stress relief experts suggest that you need to get our feelings out. When you keep your feelings and thoughts inside, they can build up and cause further physical, psychological and emotional stress.

THE POWER OF A GROUP STRESS REDUCTION PROCESS

So get those stressful feelings out. Arrange with a group of friends to have a regular stress reduction expression session. This session is for each person to vent and complain about everything and anything they want to. Other members should simply listen attentively and not judge what is said.

THE GETTING IT OUT STRESS MANAGEMENT PURPOSE

The purpose of this stress relief expression session is not to come up with solutions or advice. It is simply a chance to have a good whinge, to vent and express those feelings and thoughts. You’ll find your anxiety and tension will dissipate as your bottled up stress disappears.

WHAT ARE YOUR IDEAS FOR THE STRESSED OUT?

What are your thoughts about a stress relief expression session? Add your comments to this latest post and share your thoughts with others. We would also be delighted to read about your own stress management and stress relief strategies.

STRESS AND WORRY OFTEN MAKES YOU FEEL OUT OF BALANCE…

Stress, tension and anxiety can soon tip your life out of balance. Here’s a quick stress management and stress relief strategy to check if this balance is tipping out of control.

YOUR STRESS RELIEF ACTIVITY

Think of one stress relief activity that you do on a regular basis that you really enjoy. It could be your weekly trip to the movies, Sunday afternoon restful nap or Friday night dinner with friends. Whatever the activity is, if it starts disappearing from your life because of other commitments, then it’s time to stop and ask yourself these questions…

STRESS QUESTIONS TO CHECK YOUR BALANCE

Is this regular stress relief activity I enjoy doing, now becoming irregular?

Has this activity been replaced with another activity that I dislike doing?

Does this replacement activity cause me more stress and tension?

If the answer is yes to these three questions then the balance is tipping towards greater stress, anxiety and distress in your life. It is time to reconsider what commitments you really do need in your life and how to continue to engage in activities that you really enjoy and reduce your stress.

YOUR THOUGHTS ON THESE STRESS QUESTIONS

STRESS RELIEF AND REDUCTION LINKED TO PLEASURE-BASED ACTIVITY…

Stress research and stress management research undertaken at the Laboratory of Stress Neurobiology at the University of Cincinnati (UC) has found that pleasurable activities including sex and eating food, often resulted in reduced-stress and its effects. Professors Yvonne Ulrich-Lai and James Herman identified that even small quantities of pleasurable foods resulted in reducing stress effects. Further, that these stress reducing effects had long-term benefits for at least a week at a time.

STRESS RELIEF AND THE BRAINWAYS OF RATS

Utilizing rats in this research, the rats were fed a daily sugar solution for a two week period, while other rats had access to responsive sexual partners. This was compared to a control group of rats. For those rats accessing sexual partners and receiving sugar they had reduced stress hormone levels and heart rates via their brain pathways. Yet, when the sugar solution was injected directly into the stomachs of rats, this actually did not reduce their stress response.

STRESS REDUCTION EFFECTS AND OTHER RESEARCH IMPLICATIONS

These results confirmed the often held motivation and belief of people that eating comfort or pleasurable food during times of stress can actually have stress reduction effects. Further these results have implications for developing strategies for dealing with metabolic issues and rising obesity rates.
A more complete understanding of this research can be found in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and add to our increasing understanding of stress and stress management.

STRESS CAN HELPED WITH THIS HONEY HELP…

Stress, strain and worry often shows in your face. To release the tension in your face use this stress management and stress relief strategy. Use a do-it-yourself magical stress relief face mask using one powerful ingredient and that is honey.

RENOURISHING WITH THIS LESS STRESS MASK

A honey face mask is excellent at softening your pores, renourishing your skin and is very inexpensive to use. It also forces you to reduce your stress as you have to lie down and rest while it works its magic.

HOW TO USE THIS FACE MASK

So grab a jar of honey and cover your face in a layer of honey, making sure to avoid your eyes. Lie down on your back in a comfortable place for about 15 minutes. Then rinse off the honey with warm water. Your face will feel great and you will have taken a break too, letting the stress and tension go from your body and your face.

STRESS LEVELS ARE RISING IN WORKPLACES AROUND THE WORLD…

In a recent global survey of 1,000 corporations across 15 countries, commissioned by The Regus Group it was found that the levels of workplace stress have risen over the last two years. The survey found 6 in 10 workers in significant global economies experienced increased workplace stress.

The survey found that China (86%) had the highest rise in workplace stress. While those workers in larger companies worldwide (over 1000 workers and more) were nearly twice as likely to suffer from stress. These heightened stress levels were costing world economies billions of dollars in lost productivity and health related problems. One of the most important aspects to reducing the stress levels of employees was in assisting them to develop a healthy work-life balance.
